Design Patent Priority Document Exchange (PDX)
To establish a more comprehensive and convenient service for the patent examination, the Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) on Design Patent Priority Document Exchange (PDX) which was signed by Taiwan and Japan in 2019 has now completed its connection between both parties’ systems. Thus, from 1st January 2022, the PDX expanded the current scope of electronic exchange of priority documents from only applying to invention and utility patent applications to design patent applications as well.
Starting from 2022, the applicant who has provided the access code issued from the Japan Patent Office (JPO) to TIPO within 16 months after the earliest priority date of invention or utility patent applications, and within 10 months after the earliest priority date for design patent applications are deemed to have been submitted the certified copy of the priority document.
